Boca Raton Juniors U8 Yellow Places 2nd In Weston Cup U9 Gold Division

(2/18/-2/20/12) Twelve youth soccer teams from Palm Beach, Broward, Miami, and Cape Coral met at Central Park for the Weston Cup's U9 Gold Division. The division's only youngest team, Boca Raton Juniors a team comprised entirely of U8 players reached the the championship game. Before falling to a mighty Doral FC team in the championship game, the team had to get passed the premier U9 teams of South Miami United, Cape Coral Cyclones, and Weston FC in the group stage and Miami Shores in the semi-final. At the award ceremony Coach Marcos stated, "First of all, I have to appalled Weston FC for hosting the tournament. This was a special opportunity for our boys to play against the best teams in Florida at a convenient and centralized location. I never want it to be too easy for our boys. This is why we signed up for the U9 Gold Division. The strong competition brought out the best in every player. We play better when we play against better players. This weekend taught our boys how to tougher, smarter, and to make quicker decisions on and off the ball."
Boca Raton Juniors U8 Wins PBSL U9 Gold Division Playoffs
January 15th, 2012, Boca Raton Juniors U8 and Elite Soccer Academy U9 traveled to Klock Fields of Palm Beach Gardens for the championship game of the Palm Beach Soccer League Champion's Season Playoffs. Boca Juniors earned their spot in the championship game by going undefeated through out the regular season. Meeting Elite Soccer Academy in the championship game was ideal as the teams faced off twice during the regular season, with both games resulting in stalemates.
Elite took advantage of their one year age difference to muscle their way past the Boca Juniors defense. Elite shoot eight times on goalkeeper Matthew Labrador in the first half, who saved four one verse one goal opportunities to deny Elite of a prestigious victor and to keep Boca Juniors in contention. Elite won the first half with a goal in the 12th minute.
However Boca Juniors was able to make a comeback after number 8 Thiago Flamengo shot from distance was blocked by the hand of an Elite defender inside the penalty area. The teams number 10 playmaker, Gerdado Valenzuela converted the penalty kick, equalizing the score at 1-1. The comeback was completed two minutes before the final whistle was blown by the referee, when number 7 Fernando Valenzuela sent a through ball to number 9 Marqinho, who sharply hit the ball passed the diving goalkeeper, into the side netting of the goal.
The team is head coached by Marcos Fernandes. Coach Marcos commented after the game, "The boys pulled off a great comeback. The parents of the players show great commitment to the club, coaching staff, teammates, and players. This was a great way to the players to pay them back. No matter what the score was, we played the toque toque (touch touch) style. We stuck to it and played our game throughout the game, that why we pulled of an amazing comeback. I am proud of everyone."
All of the Boca Raton Juniors team's qualified for the Palm Beach Soccer League Playoffs.
(1/6/2012) Today the Palm Beach Soccer League, a travel soccer league compromised of member clubs of Palm Beach County and surrounding areas for teams aged 8 years old to 15 announced their playoff schedule. The playoffs will be held at Klocks Fields in Palm Beach Gardens. Every Boca Raton Juniors team that participated in the league qualified for the playoffs.
Boca Raton Juniors U8, a team comprised entirely of players young enough to play in the under 8 division, went undefeated in the U9 Gold Division. Being the number one seed of the division, the team qualified directly to the championship game and will face the winner of the semi-final game between Elite Soccer Academy and Wellington Soccer Club. The championship game will take place on January 15th at 2:00 PM.
Boca Raton Juniors U9 Blue only lost one game in the league's U9 Silver Division. The team includes three 9 year olds, and the rest of the players are young enough to play in the under 9 division next season like with the U8 team. Being the second seed of the division, the team qualified directly to the semi-finals and will face the winner of a quarter final match between Wellington Soccer Club and Elite Soccer Academy. The semi-final game will take place on January 14th at 9:00 AM. The championship game will take place the following day at 3:15 PM, likely against Lake Worth Sharks who are the top seed.
Boca Raton Juniors U11 also qualified for the playoffs. The team is coached and trained Juan "Lolo" Abarca, a retired professional player from Chile. Boca Raton Juniors U15 qualified for the playoffs thanks to a 3-0 win vs. Lake Worth Sharks in the last game of the season. The team is coached by Carlos Santos, also a retired professional player from Brazil.

The club's teams will rely on the toque toque style of play and diverse training methods to win the playoffs. The teams have improved rapidly since replacing one training session of the week with a futsal-indoor soccer session at the Indoor Sports Complex.
